Bonjour! My name is Elizabeth Williams, and this is my killer website.
I'm currently a print journalism sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin. I have been writing for the Life & Arts section of The Daily Texan since September 2012. I'm interested in studying the dynamic between musicians and the press and am currently learning through personal trial and error how to get fascinating interviews from musicians. Some of my prouder moments on staff include my camping column, a review of Divine Fits' debut album, and a book review of Ken Caillat's Making Rumours: The Inside Story of the Classic Fleetwood Mac Album. And because I'm one of the 20 people still watching Saturday Night Live, I write the website's SNL Blog.
For the past five years I have been involved with the South by Southwest Music Festival, first as a volunteer with the Music Panels Crew and, as of this year, an electronic media intern with the press department. I ran the festival's Pinterest account and formatted posts in HTML code for the website. I even helped write several posts!
I graduated with High Honors from James Bowie High School in Austin, Texas, in June 2011. Fun fact: I graduated from high school the same day I turned 18, which is not as exciting as it sounds.
My skills include proficient use of Microsoft Office, audio editing (Audacity), video editing (Final Cut Pro), and photo editing (Adobe Photoshop). I can also run a mean Pinterest account.
One day I hope to be a music journalist at the calibre of David Fricke. I have slumbering literary aspirations, but I've some way to go before I become the next Sylvia Plath (minus the suicide, of course).
As a youth, I drank too much Dr. Pepper and now prefer Mr. Pibb, which is considered treason for a native Texan. I spend obscene amounts of time reading McSweeney's and BuzzFeed. And my taste in Halloween costumes is impeccable.
